Job Description

Our client is looking for an ambitious, self-motivated, Business Development Manager to be part of our Investment Business Development team and you will play a proactive part in assisting to develop a culture of focused business development in the team.

What you’ll do:

Business Development

  • Meet or surpass sales targets set at the beginning of the year, and fulfil other objectives as agreed with Line Manager from time to time
  • Work with the Relationship Manager – Investment Management to ensure client relationships are established, maintained and retained with excellence
  • Generate new business projects and initiatives, constantly thinking of new innovative ideas for increasing sales
  • Reflect with integrity the values of CIG as part of its public facing profile
  • Continuous improvement of statistical reporting of BD activity via CRM
  • To attend regular meetings on all areas of sales to ensure we are working as a team.
  • Engage closely with our Investment Management team to ensure that BD activity reflects our Conscious Capital investment approach
  • To grow AUM in our sustainable investment products and services
  • To have a leading role in the discretionary business development strategy
  • To provide investment proposals to new and existing clients using our risk profiler
  • To include active networking locally and internationally with travel to key target markets in order to build relationships with Trustees and Advisors and to enhance CIL’s international reputation
  • Establish key advisor/institutional client partnerships and seek suitable books of business
  • Work closely with the Business Development Managers for Platform and Banking to develop shared new business opportunities
  • Hosting face to face and virtual meetings, seminars/webinars and events
  • Provide demonstrations to clients, trustees or and advisors on CIL products and systems

Wider CIG liaison

  • Support other members of the Group Business Development team including those based in other offices
  • Support relevant BD focused social media activity, including writing relevant BD and investment related blogs
  • Maintain good understanding of relevant risk management and compliance processes and procedures relevant to the activities of the BD team
  • Liaise with Line Manager and Group Commercial Director to maintain and develop mutually supportive relationship
  • Work closely with Relationship Manager – Investment Management to maintain and develop mutually supportive relationship
  • Communicate proactively with the Customer Services and Onboarding teams to ensure new and existing BD relationships are well serviced through onboarding and ongoing processes
  • Work closely with Investment Management team and the Investment Committee to maintain and develop mutually supportive relationship, ensuring constructive two-way feedback and improvements to help increase AUM

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Proven track record and experience of successful business development within a discretionary investment business; an existing network of professional contacts in the financial advisory and/or fiduciary sectors. 
  • Strong client relationship and business development skills
  • Strong knowledge of financial services industry and global markets
  • Strong technical product knowledge
  • Knowledge of trust and corporate structures
  • Knowledge of ESG and sustainable investments 
  • Good presentation skills to both small and larger audiences of clients
  • Professional qualifications desirable – IOM FSA – Investment Advice

Salary: £40,000 to 50,000 Per Year
