Job Description

ROLE PURPOSE

To manage, lead and direct large complex end-to-end technology initiatives

across the Utmost International business, including programmes/projects

involving the wider Group IT function. Such initiatives are to be managed

from initiation through to completion, in a manner that ensures that over-

arching programme / project objectives are realised on time, within budget

and to agreed quality standards. The role will work closely with teams from

across the business, external suppliers and technology subject matter experts

across Infrastructure, Database, Storage, Operating Systems, Network,

Technical Product Leads, and Enterprise / Solution Architects, to solve

challenging growth, scale and technology resiliency problems and lead the

delivery of new and innovative solutions.

KEY SKILLS & RESPONSIBILITIES

SKILL MEASURE(S)

Project Management  Define projects including scope, deliverables,

roles and responsibilities and ensure they are

clear, agreed and communicated to all key

stakeholders.

 Plan, structure, track, report on and lead

project activity in line with Utmost International

Change Framework to ensure that

stakeholders, dependencies, cost, quality,

and time are managed within agreed

parameters.

 Anticipate, monitor, manage and report on

progress, risks and issues in line with Utmost

International Risk Policy and Utmost

International Change Framework to protect

the project deliverables and benefits defined

in the Business Case.

 Deliver short term / one-off projects and

activities as required by and to the standards

and outcomes agreed with Line Manager.

 Agrees project approach with technology

subject matter experts & stakeholders, and

prepares realistic plans (including quality, risk,

and communications plans) and tracks

activities against the project schedule,

managing stakeholder involvement as

appropriate.

 Monitors costs, timescales and resources used,

and takes action where these deviate from

agreed tolerances.

 Ensures that own projects are formally closed

and, where appropriate, subsequently

reviewed, and that lessons learned are

recorded.

Leadership  Design, establish and lead the project team

ensuring the appropriate skills and behaviours

are in place to enable project delivery in an

efficient and cost effective way.

 Bring a customer focused mindset with the

ability to multi-task and manage conflicting

priorities.

 Plan, prepare, approve, deliver, and evaluate

communications and key messages to ensure

the effective flow of information to project

team members and stakeholders.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

 Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a

Technical Project Manager within

Information Technology

 Experience of formal project

management methodologies (e.g.,

Prince2, Agile PM / SCRUM / KANBAN,

PMP) – professional qualification

preferred.

 Degree in engineering, computer

science or a related field preferred.

 Experience with MS Project, MS Office,

Jira tools, & Confluence.

 Demonstrate a positive motivated /

‘can do’ attitude.

 Excellent problem solving skills.

 Ability to work under pressure to achieve

tight deadlines.

 Highly organised and demonstrates

excellent analytical skills.

Stakeholder &

Relationship

Management

 Source, select, procure, and manage third

party suppliers and services in liaison with IT,

Legal and Finance departments in

accordance with standards, policies and

agreements as required by the project.

 Build and maintain internal and external

business relationships to ensure the effective

and successful delivery of project deliverables

as defined in the project scope.

 Lead discussions and communicate regularly

with senior leadership on project status and

escalations.

 Use abilities to positively influence customers

and stakeholders, and properly manage

divergent expectations

Infrastructure /

Technical knowledge

 Manage technical IT infrastructure projects

with large complex, enterprise IT systems

hardware and/or software design,

development, deployment, and support

initiatives.

 Lead application development and/or

technology upgrade projects, from

requirements gathering to post-

implementation support, in the following

areas:

o Deployments of Windows

technologies.

o Deployments of VM Ware or other

virtual computing technologies

o Delivering large capacity planning

and technology refresh initiatives

including software (OS, DB, etc.) and

hardware platform upgrades across

multiple environments, networks, and

data centres.

o Deployments leveraging Hybrid

and/or Private Cloud technologies

 Oversee day-to-day technical operations,

including assignments and resource

allocation.

 Knowledge of new and established software

systems and the ability to train others on them.
